Just Vlog It- Teach Us Something
Finally, the theme to the Just Vlog It Challenge for the month of March is TEACH US SOMETHING sponsored by The Slanket and brought to you courtesy of Heather @ Notes from Lapland and me!
Your mission…should you choose to accept it…is to:
- Decide on a subject of your vlog. You can teach us ANYTHING. How to make bread, how to say “Happy St. David’s Day” in Welsh, the history of St. Patrick’s Day, how to drink a Guiness properly, what your home is like…anything that helps us to learn!
- Record your vlog entry. Remember to keep your video to around 4 minutes. Any longer and we get too tired!
- Upload your video to the platform of your choice.
- Create a post on your site with the vlog embedded.
- Send us the link to your post: justvlogit[at]hotmail[dot][com] by TUESDAY 9 MARCH (midnight)
- Come back to Cafe Bebe on Thursday 11 March to see if you are one of the lucky 2 vlog posts up for the public vote. If you aren’t, fear ye not…your post will still be included in our Just Vlog It Teach Us Something Carnival on Monday 15 March at Notes from Lapland. But still take the time to vote here at Cafe Bebe for the BEST VLOG on Thursday & Friday 11/12 March. Your fellow vloggers will love you for it.
- Saturday 13 March the winning vlogger will be announced here at Cafe Bebe! The winner will be the lucky recipient of a SLANKET like this one (the colour will be announced later this week…this is just an example):
It’s just that simple! We’re giving you until next Tuesday because we know how tricky it can be to get time to vlog and upload and post. The weekend might be a great time to get all of this done. I’ve vlogged some helpful tips on how to have a successful parent vlog and there are some other great vlogs out there like Heather’s vlog tour of her farm. I happened to record a little vlog for another challenge altogether about how to dance like a Disney Princess which ought to give you all the inspiration you might need…or put you off vlogging altogether!
If I can impart one bit of wisdom, in my minimal experience with vlogging, what makes a successful vlog is the willingness to look silly. I don’t mean that your vlog has to be goofy and crazy (there’s certainly a place for that!) but you have to be willing to let the world see you “warts and all” and not care. You are not going to be a raving beauty or hunky hunk (well, maybe Tim at Bringing Up Charlie would be), you’re going to be yourself. That’s what we want to see. Try not to plan it out too much or stress over it and do take after take. Try to do one or two takes and let it roll. Be organic! I think, in my humble opinion, it translates better.
So, now it’s over to you! You have until Tuesday 9 March to get your vlog posts up and your links to us. The winner will be able to wrap up in a gorgeous, snuggly, cuddly Slanket and the rest of us will learn something and probably have a good laugh or two in the process. This is meant to be fun! Heather and I are really excited to be bringing you this challenge…we hope you’ll dive in along with us. Good luck and HAPPY VLOGGING!

Read MoreMUK LUKS- A Vlog Review
The world of Twitter can be very small indeed. In December, I stumbled across someone tweeting about MUK LUKS. I clicked on the MUK LUKS profile and found out they were based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Wisconsin is my home state and my brother happens to live in Milwaukee! Weird. I tweeted with Amanda from MUK LUKS and she offered to send me two pairs of MUK LUKS for review on Cafe Bebe. I received them right before Christmas and had great weather in which to test them. We’ve had tons of snow and ice and rubbish cold here in England this winter which greatly assisted in the testing process. I bring you my video review of my MUK LUKS experience. Below the Vlog window you’ll find links to MUK LUKS…do check them out if you’re looking for stylish boots and slippers that will keep your feet warm and your bank balance intact.

If you visit the MUK LUKS site linked above you’ll find links to different stores where you can purchase your own pair of MUK LUKS.

A few weeks ago a delivery came from an angel the postman. He brought me 8 bars of glorious Green & Black’s Chocolate. I carefully opened the padded envelope and gingerly laid out the bars of liquid gold. Harps were tinking in the distance. I knew that my hubby, a definite chocoholic, was going to be most pleased with my acquisition. The lovely angels at Green & Black’s have been reaching out to parent bloggers in an effort to educate us about quality chocolate and all that comes with it. I was more than happy to accomodate Green & Black’s. What follows is a vlogging review of my Green & Blacks experience. I highly recommend sampling 8 bars a bar of Green & Black’s as soon as possible…you don’t know what you’re missing!
The process of tasting a Green & Black’s chocolate bar is rather involved but extremely satisfying. Try it for your next dinner party. Your guests will not be disappointed. I can assure you that neither my husband nor I was disappointed with our glorious Green & Black’s chocolate bars. I’ve earned a few brownie points now, in fact!

Welcome to the 1st Flip-tastic Pancake Day Carnival at Café Bébé! Tuesday 16 February is Pancake Day. Actually it’s known as Shrove Tuesday, first and foremost, and is the final INDULGENCE day before Ash Wednesday and Lent (for all you Catholics and practising religious folks out there). What better way to prepare for 40 days of sacrifice than to stuff yourself with pancakes? On January 14, Little Miss and I braved snow advisories and trains to attend a Pre-Pancake Day event put on by Fleishman-Hillard in support of Lyle’s Golden Syrup. There were 3 of us “parent bloggers” in attendance (myself, Tim of Bringing Up Charlie and Hannah of Muddling Along Mummy and our delightful children) who enjoyed the tutoring of Emma Forbes in order to learn how to make the perfect pancake . I think we were all quite good students as we were flipping like the pros by the end of our lesson. We received goody bags to take away chock full of all the ingredients for making the perfect pancake and journeyed back to our homes to practise. I really enjoyed the practise and I know my husband and Little Miss quite enjoyed the eating!
Here is footage of Little Miss and I making the batter mix and me perfecting my flipping technique. I hope you enjoy and learn a thing or two…mind, flipping is best assisted with a good tiara.
If you’re interested in learning more about making the perfect pancake, getting a proper flipping demonstration by Emma Forbes or finding some brilliant topping recipes, please visit Lyle’s Golden Syrup’s brilliant pancake site. There are some wonderful bloggers who will be adding their support of the Flip-tastic Pancake Day Carnival through the MckLinky link below. Please visit them and support their pancake flipping efforts! I hope everyone will have a little more incentive to participate in Pancake Day in their house on Tuesday 16 February. Pancakes aren’t just for breakfast anymore! Happy Pancake Day everyone…get FLIPPING!
