When contacted by the PR representatives behind Bambino Merino, I was eager to accept their offer to trial the Bambino Merino sleeping bag and pyjamas. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Bambino Merino and was happy to have chief tester, Little Miss, get a trial of such a well-known product.
- STRENGTHS: I have never felt such soft fabric in my life! The fabric of the pajamas and sleeping bag is merino wool, 100% natural from New Zealand which allows for temperature regulation in any climate. Parents will also appreciate the fact that it is naturally odour resistant which means less washing and is machine washable. Eco-friendly parents take note…merino wool is a sustainable resource so is kind to our environment. The Bambino Merino sleeping bags are designed for year-round wear which means you don’t need to keep in mind what TOG to buy for each season. You adjust layers underneath the sleeping bag to accomodate any variance in room temperature. The people at Bambino Merino even provide you with a handy card to let you know just what layers to wear under the Sleeping Bag. The Bambino Merino Pyjamas we received for review were ivory & sage and two-pieces. Little Miss is getting to the stage where a full, footed sleepsuit is not necessary. The Bambino Merino pyjamas are a perfect fit for Little Miss; lightweight yet heavy enough to keep her warm without blankets. Bambino Merino do more than sleepwear…you can get an entire wardrobe for your child if your budget is ready for it.
- WEAKNESSES: The Bambino Merino Sleeping Bag is HUGE! It’s meant to fit a 2-3 month old baby to a 2-year-old child. A 2-3 month old baby would be very tiny in this bag but with the poppers under the arms, the sizing shouldn’t be a problem. The price is a bit steep (£49.95) but considering that you can potentially have your child in this from infant to 2 years old and that most households have 2-3 sleeping bags, the price is not all that outlandish. The merino wool requires a special wool detergent only; you can’t just pop them into the wash with like colours. However, due to the fact that the merino wool is so durable and odour-resistant, you do not need to wash it as often.
- OPINION: The Bambino Merino products are gorgeous! I wish they made adult sleepwear. Little Miss was warm and comfortable and looked great as well. Admitedly, the prices are a bit on the high side- £24.95 for the pyjamas- but for a gift or a splurge, you can’t go wrong with Bambino Merino. I’ll be waiting for the adult fashions to hit the High Street. I probably won’t be able to afford them but a girl can dream, can’t she?
- TECHNICAL STUFF: RRP- Pyjamas = £24.95, Sleeping Bag = £49.95 or 2 for £89.90; Sleeping Bag fits from 2-3 month olds to 2 year olds; Pyjamas are in ivory/sage, petal and sky colours and fit ages 1-2 and 2-3.
- RATING: 4.5 out of 5 ( only minus point is for price for us personally)
