Flip-tastic Pancake Day Carnival
Welcome to the 1st Flip-tastic Pancake Day Carnival at Café Bébé! Tuesday 16 February is Pancake Day. Actually it’s known as Shrove Tuesday, first and foremost, and is the final INDULGENCE day before Ash Wednesday and Lent (for all you Catholics and practising religious folks out there). What better way to prepare for 40 days of sacrifice than to stuff yourself with pancakes? On January 14, Little Miss and I braved snow advisories and trains to attend a Pre-Pancake Day event put on by Fleishman-Hillard in support of Lyle’s Golden Syrup. There were 3 of us “parent bloggers” in attendance (myself, Tim of Bringing Up Charlie and Hannah of Muddling Along Mummy and our delightful children) who enjoyed the tutoring of Emma Forbes in order to learn how to make the perfect pancake . I think we were all quite good students as we were flipping like the pros by the end of our lesson. We received goody bags to take away chock full of all the ingredients for making the perfect pancake and journeyed back to our homes to practise. I really enjoyed the practise and I know my husband and Little Miss quite enjoyed the eating!
Here is footage of Little Miss and I making the batter mix and me perfecting my flipping technique. I hope you enjoy and learn a thing or two…mind, flipping is best assisted with a good tiara.
If you’re interested in learning more about making the perfect pancake, getting a proper flipping demonstration by Emma Forbes or finding some brilliant topping recipes, please visit Lyle’s Golden Syrup’s brilliant pancake site. There are some wonderful bloggers who will be adding their support of the Flip-tastic Pancake Day Carnival through the MckLinky link below. Please visit them and support their pancake flipping efforts! I hope everyone will have a little more incentive to participate in Pancake Day in their house on Tuesday 16 February. Pancakes aren’t just for breakfast anymore! Happy Pancake Day everyone…get FLIPPING!
