Just Vlog It (not sponsored by Flip...sorry!)

It’s Summer! There was supposed to be a Just Vlog It challenge this month. It’s nearly the end of this month! What happened you may ask?

Well, life happened! I became overwhelmed by the pressure to Just Vlog It and have crumbled. But thanks to two lovely bloggers named Victoria and Heather, I have resurrected the flame of Just Vlog It and am re-launching it for August with a new and exciting spin!

The pressure of hosting, running, creating and promoting has become a bit much so after discussion with Victoria and Heather, we came up with a new plan that will hopefully spread the love of VLOGGING and CREATIVITY and share the traffic as well. We will now embark on the “Just Vlog It World Tour”!

Each month a new vlogger will host the Just Vlog It challenge. They will launch their challenge on the first Monday of the month and give vloggers a theme (or not…however they choose to run it). Vloggers will then have 2 weeks to plan, script, record, edit and post their vlogs on their own blogs. On the third Monday of the month, the host will put up his or her own vlog entry on their blog and allow other vloggers to add their posts by MckLinky widget (similar to Tara Cain’s The Gallery).

We’re taking the COMPETITION out of Just Vlog It by providing a platform for people’s creativity which encourages rather than discourages. The Just Vlog It host is welcome to acknowlege brilliance in vlogging if they so choose but for the time being, there will be no WINNERS as in the past. Let’s make it fun, eh?

I will continue to organise and oversee Just Vlog It and take part in it myself. We have two vloggers to start the hosting:  Victoria at It’s a Small World After All Family will host the August Just Vlog It and Heather at Young and Younger will host the September Just Vlog It.  I hope this will encourage all of you to dust off your video cameras and dive in! Maybe we’ll even get a few of you who said you’ll NEVER Just Vlog It?? It just might be fun, after all!

As we move forward, we’ll retain one general guideline: do try your level best to keep your vlog entries to under 5 minutes. Consider how little time we all have and do your best to aim for 3-4 minutes with 5 minutes being the MAX. Otherwise, the world is your oyster. You don’t have to be the next James Cameron or Kathryn Bigelow (yes, I do love Hollywood)…just give us a glimpse into your life. We don’t care how perfect it looks or sounds!

And if you’d be so kind, we do have a Twitter identity- @justvlogit is where you can find us and #justvlogit can be used to promote your vlog entries or any vlogging you do! Victoria and Heather will be helping with the Twitter promotion in months to come.

If you are interested in hosting a Just Vlog It challenge, please leave your name in the comment field below and I’ll get back to you to assign you a month. It will be similar to hosting the BMB Carnivals except you won’t have to pfaff about with entries & emails…the vloggers will enter their entries themselves through the MckLinky Widget. I’ll help anyone hosting and will give you all the dates you’ll need. I look forward to getting some new hosts!

MONDAY 2 AUGUST will be Victoria’s launch for the August Just Vlog it and it will have the same theme as was issued for July (Summer and/or Blogging)! Just Vlog It Relaunch

Just Vlog It is baaaaacccckkkkkkk!  I would like to apologise for the absence of Just Vlog It this last month.  I’ve been busy paddling like mad and trying to breathe but as I am so darn “innovative”, I can’t let Just Vlog It die.  I am going to give it a go in a different way this month, however.  Bear with me…

The blogging world has knocked me for six a bit in the last month.  I’m as competitive as the next blogger and it’s hard for me to consciously pull myself back.  What I would like for “Just Vlog It”, though, is for it to become a CELEBRATION of vlogging and creativity.  It’s been brilliant to have a “competition” and a “queen/king” at the end after public voting but I would like to make a change.  And as it’s my challenge…I’m allowed!

Here’s how it will work from now on:

• I will give you SEVERAL prompts for the challenge.
• You will have 2 weekends in which to record, upload and publish your vlog post.
• Come back to Cafe Bebe on the date below and add your post link to the MckLinky widget for a Just Vlog It Carnival
• I’ll have several polls following the Carnival to gauge opinion and will award “special” mentions for all vlog entries.
• There will NOT be a winner and, as of right now, there will NOT be prizes.  I know this may disappoint some as we all like a bit of a reward but, as I said above, I want to CELEBRATE everyone’s vlogs and their creativity.

BLOGGING:  Why do you blog? What are the best things about blogging? What are your top tips to conquer the blogging world?  Can you teach us something new to do on our blogs?  Share your most popular post!  If you’re an anonymous blogger, disguise yourself and talk to us about why!  What would you recommend to new bloggers?  Celebrate the world of parent blogging in a vlog post (maybe Cybermummy is a good place to start??).

There are TWO prompts for the July Just Vlog It:  Summer and Blogging!  Do what you will!  You have from today (2 July) until Tuesday 13 July.  On Tuesday 13 July I will put up my own vlog post and MckLinky widget for you to add your own vlog post link.  We’ll celebrate vlogging together until Friday 16 July where I’ll give “special mention” awards to all those who participate.

I hope that this new format is agreeable to everyone and perhaps encourages a few new entries despite the lack of a prize incentive.  Please remember that you do not have to have a state-of-the-art vlog.  You can record it on ANYTHING and it does not need to be edited to within an inch of it’s life.  If you’re capable of editing and want to “bling” it up…go for it!  All I ask is that you do your level best to keep the vlog posts under 5 minutes so that viewers don’t want to bash their heads in while watching your 15 minute Oscar-nominated documentary.  Simples.

Just Vlog It Family Fitness Fun Carnival

You came, you saw, you pondered, you vlogged.  In the Just Vlog it Family Fitness Fun challenge there was so much to see, learn from and laugh at with!  I must say that I am now planning to do far more obstacle courses with Little Miss and also far more cleaning!  Wait a minute?  Cleaning?  No, never mind…what was I thinking?!  At any rate, the incentive of some Reebok gear was great motivation and we had some brilliant entries which I would love to share with you.

• In her first-time entry, Dawn @ The Moiderer shows us how her adorable daughter doesn’t need a pony to have fun!  I’m quite amazed at the size of the cat!
• Victoria from It’s a Small World After All has provided us with another brilliant entry this month.  Her adorable children are put through their paces to prepare for their around the world adventure.  You’ll want to do your own obstacle course in the garden after this!
• Kelly from A Place of My Own puts forth her first effort with some amazing head banging from her two favourite men.  This is obviously practise for attending some of the summer music festivals!  Rock on Piran and Mr C!
• Our fair Pippa of A Mother’s Ramblings gives us an honest and touching entry for Just Vlog It this month.  You MUST see Pippa’s lovely post.  I know a lot of us feel this way.  Well done Pippa, I’m proud of you.
• Victoria of Muma Talk is a “newbie” to Just Vlog It but she managed to win the “runner-up” tiara and Best Newcomer title with this entry which shows us how cleaning the house and dancing with your baby can keep you fit!  Well done Victoria…great effort for your first time out!
• Jen of The King and Eye puts forth another amazing entry showcasing the fitness abilities of her delightful children and shows how she can sleep for a few seconds on the couch.  I still haven’t mastered that one yet!
• Melaina of Transatlantic Blonde is another newbie (and fellow American) who shared her love of ’80′s fashion and her beautiful baby boy in her adorable entry. (password to view = vlogit)  It appears that Melaina has caught the vlogging bug as she’s done her very own interview on her site as well.
• And finally, our NEW QUEEN, Susie at New Day New Lesson.  She’s put forth amazing entries in the two previous Just Vlog It’s but this month the title was all hers with her Eye of the Tiger inspired family fitness workout.  Impressive stuff Susie and very well done to you and your family!

Ah, Just Vlog It!  Bringing the creativity out of the woodwork!  I’m so thankful to everyone who entered and would like to encourage everyone else to give it a go next month.  I’ll be announcing the next Just Vlog It challenge theme on Friday 28 May to allow you PLENTY of time to get your entries thought up, recorded, uploaded and posted.  I would also like to give a MAHOOSIVE thanks to Reebok who generously provided the prizes for the May Just Vlog It challenge.  Our winner, runner-up and best newcomer will be exercising in style with their family now!  Now, the rest of you…get out with your kids today and have some family fitness fun.  See you soon…happy vlogging!
