Snow Day Fun

Monday morning was a pretty exciting one for Ella. Although Ella adores school, she was thrilled to find out that she didn’t have to go to school. It was a SNOW DAY! I remember the joy I felt whenever school was cancelled when I was a child. In the deepest, darkest depths of central Wisconsin, this was actually a rarity. On those few occasions where we didn’t have to trudge through 6 foot high snow drifts, my friends and I would stay home, build snow igloos in the snow drifts at the ends of our driveways and go skating in the road. That was WINTER! I digress, back to Ella. Here was her expression when I told her that there was no school…

So then we set to having some scrummy pancakes, lounging around in our pyjamas for a while, chatting to Sabina who popped in and then getting dressed for the day. Mark’s sister Julie and her family were heading back to Australia on Monday so we all gathered at our favourite chippy for lunch. Ella enjoyed fish & chips as big as her head!

Then I decided to be Super Mummy! I got the kids AND MYSELF totally layered up with warm, waterproof gear, got the sled out of the garage and dragged them both in the sled down to our local village park. There I repeatedly dragged them up a small hill to let them slide down together. Of course, only after I ran down the hill to be in position to take pictures. Good thing it was more of a slope than a proper hill! Great fun was had by all, including me!

After getting a ride back home, Sam was happy to go down for a nap which allowed Ella and I to cuddle up on the couch and watch some telly together. All in all, a fantastic snow day and one that I enjoyed as much as the kids! What did you do on your snow day??

  1. Our snow day was only at the weekend as school opened almost as normal on Monday. We made the obligatory snow man in the park behind our house then ran back in, in the warmth then chucked the boys in the back garden and sipped hot tea while watching them throw snow balls at each other… Bliss!

  2. Such fun. We did the same thing. Your two little cuties look just like you!
