Project 365 13-19 January

We have finished the third week of 2013 and I am pleased to report that it has indeed been a good one. Actually, this week has been one where I have begun to realise that I am becoming the Mummy that I want to be again. I’m feeling more confident, stronger, happier and less stressed. I believe, hope, that shows in the happiness of my children.

Sunday 13 January: Our third Sunday family walk in a row, we went for a slightly easier walk on paved footpaths at Ferry Meadows in Peterborough. Ella scooted around with assistance from Daddy and Sam relaxed in the Bugaboo. We were treated to a cold but sunny & clear day which led to smiles all around.
Monday 14 January: Back to school but this time IN THE SNOW!!! We were thrilled to wake up to our first few inches of snow of the winter. Ella was desperate to get out in the snow as was Sam. I borrowed welly boots from a neighbour for Sam and we were able to walk through the snow together to pick up Ella from school. What fun that was for Sam!! The piddly amount of snow that fell meant that Ella’s snowman was smaller than Sam but she made one nonetheless.
Tuesday 15 January: Exactly 7 days after Sam’s 13-month jabs (including MMR), Sam spiked a temperature and spent the day laying on me, sleeping and being dosed with Nurofen. Mark and I practised tag team parenting throughout the night, nursing our feverish boy. Not the most fun ever but it’s great to work together to share the burden.
Wednesday 16 January: Dosed up with Nurofen and feeling marginally better, Sam accompanied me to my favourite London Town to meet up with some rather fabulous bloggers and even more fabulous PR’s with Royal Caribbean Cruises. I hope to bring you more information on this soon! Sam took some restorative naps on both legs of our journey which did him a lot of good.
Thursday 17 January: Sam was his old self which allowed me to bring order to the house after several days of chaos. I always feel better with a clean and tidy house. Felicity, the slow cooker, was dusted off and we finally had a decent meal again. There’s something to be said for routine.
Friday 18 January: While not my usual day, I dropped Sam off at the in-laws and spent the afternoon in Ella’s class at school doing my volunteer work. I love working in Ella’s class and for some reason always end up with the painting station! I’m beginning to love painting now! Toad in the Hole, made by my Mother-in-Law capped off a great day.
Saturday 19 January: Another rough night with Sam meant that Mark got the lie-in while I got up with the kids this morning. Ella started her first session with the Developmental Gymnastics Team at the gym we attend. I think she was quite nervous about it which meant that we had to do some convincing to get her there. Within minutes of getting in the gym she was smiling and bouncing around so we didn’t worry about her. I can already see an improvement in her gymnastics which is really lovely. We all enjoyed a very quiet (re: NAP) afternoon and then Ella helped me to make homemade gluten-free pizzas for dinner.

Ahhh! Our third week of 2013 is over and there is much to look forward to in the coming week. Weather permitting we’ll get out and about as a family tomorrow and further weather permitting, I will be on my way to Germany for a day and a half on Monday and Tuesday. But more about that next weekend! What was your highlight of the week?

  15. It’s amazing me to see the physical changes in Sam’s face over the last few weeks; not sure if it’s the longer hair or that his face is narrowing down, either way he’s becoming a real little boy. Good work to Ella on her gymnastics, brilliant to see her enjoying it so much. I adore that your slow cooker has a name!

    Thanks for linking up
