Love You Forever- Cupcake Mumma

There is a lovely book called “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch. The story follows the relationship of a baby boy and his mother. The mother rocks her newborn baby and says the following: “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, As long as I’m living, My baby you’ll be.” What a wonderful phrase that pretty much sums up how parents feel about their children.

My Dad gave me this book in 1997 for Christmas. I made the mistake of reading the book during our present opening and promptly burst into tears. I highly recommend reading it, if you get a chance. When I was trying to come up with a special project for Cafe Bebe where I could highlight the love of a parent for their child, I instantly was reminded of Love You Forever. Thus, the Love You Forever project was born. For the month of March, various bloggers from the parent blogosphere will be sharing their feelings about their children. I hope you enjoy what they have to write…

Today I bring you Hannah from Cupcake Mumma

My Dear Babies,

Why I will love you forever, from Mummy xxxxx

This should be so easy to write. The thing is, there are so many reasons as to why I will love you forever that actually it’s pretty hard to write.

I’ll love you forever because you are my beautiful children that I brought into this world.

Little Miss you came first, all 6lbs 4oz of you on January 17th 2008. Then along came you, my Little Man on a cold night on February 19th 2011. You were both such beautiful little bundles I loved you the moment I set eyes on you.

I will love you forever because your hug brightens up any low day, and sometimes it can feel there are a lot of those pesky days. You both have such different hugs. Little Miss you know how to hug and you give me the biggest squeezes, tell me you love me and my goodness that makes me smile.

Little Man, well you’re still my baby, you haven’t really figured hugs out yet have you? But you still sit there patiently on my lap while I have a cuddle, absorb your wonderfully soft, warm skin (and dribble along my arm).

You both make me laugh. My goodness you make me laugh! Little Miss, you come out with some one liners right now I tell you! The way you play games together like hide and seek, crawling after each other and chasing after each other, that makes me laugh because you two giggle your heads off!

I will love you forever because although sometimes it feels that I shout a lot, or get a little het up, I can always sit down at the end of the day and count so many ways in which you have made me laugh, smile and melt inside. Not many people can give you that at the end of a long day.

Your smiles, your laughter, your soft skin, your little hands and feet. Your beautiful blue eyes and button noses. Your funny moments, the moments when you think no one is looking and you’re babbling or talking to yourself. Just wonderful! Listening to you breathing as you sleep and dream. You look so sweet and content to be lost in your dreams.

See I adore you. No matter how far away Mummy has felt sometimes in the past, I hope I have fixed that because you mean more to me than any person on this Earth. I love you.

And that there, my darling, wonderful babies, is why I will Love You Forever.

I am utterly amazed at how gorgeous yet simple an idea this is….all based on a book. Brilliant. The posts are heartwarming and reminds me how much I love my son despite his tanties (tantrums)! LOL

If you were to ever run anything like this again I would cut my arm off to be involved :) xx

Greetings from America. I am a fan of Cupcake Mumma (aka Hannah). I love reading about her and her family (aka “Other Half,” “Little Miss” and “Little Man”). Hannah’s blog reminds of time, many years ago, when my wife & I were first married, and when our children were still young and at home. My, how the years just seem to fly by.

    Please keep writing Cupcake Mumma.
