Project Changing Rooms

This week (Wednesday) will mark my 32nd week of pregnancy. Seems like just yesterday I was announcing (at 7 weeks) that I was pregnant! Well, it’s been a long yesterday, that’s for sure. Who ever decided that 40 weeks was a good length of time to do anything? Phew! So, being 32 weeks into a 40 week pregnancy that gives me somewhere between 5 and 8 weeks until delivery of Bebe. If I get my wish (which I’ll blog about tomorrow) it will be closer to 5 weeks than 8.

Let’s use 5 weeks as our target, shall we? We have 2 1/2 bedrooms to make over, wardrobe storage to sort, a loft that needs a ladder and storage sorting never mind the day to day joy of being a mum, wife and freelance blogger. Now, we just got a bit of a reprieve in the form of voluntary labour. My Dad will be coming over from the US in November to help us out with Ella’s room (currently our master bedroom). We’ve got the plan and now we just need to sell Hubby’s kidney to make it happen!

In the meantime, we have not many weekends to convert the front/guest bedroom into the master bedroom and empty the current master bedroom of its contents. This past weekend found each member of the family wallowing in cold misery so not ONE SINGLE THING was accomplished. Is this procrastination at its finest? Have a tour of our rooms and see what you think. Any suggestions are more than welcome. Hopefully our finished Project Changing Rooms will be far better than what you’re looking at now! Wish us luck! Now, 7 days in a week, 5 weeks minimum = 35 days to accomplish everything….OH.MY.GOD.

Oh me oh my I don’t envy you one little bit – so much to do so little time! well seeing as we are both up at stupid o’clock may I suggest a big SOS party, bake some cakes make some chilli and get the gin in then invite everyone you know to lend a hand for a day and reward them with a mini party!
    I’m game – and that’s a serious offer of help missy !

  2. Mammasaurus,
So if I advertise a decorating party on Cafe Bebe, do you think my “followers” will turn up to help? Maybe if cake is on offer? And Gin? ;)
    Thanks lovely… ;)

  3. Sorry it’s taken me so long to come over and comment on this. Firstly, don’t panic! It may seem like loads of work, but it won’t be too bad when you get started. Ok… Ella’s new bedroom. Is the headboard the right height for a pinboard over a desk? I’m thinking it might be a little low. You could hang some pretty fabric up (maybe even with fairy lights behind) to hide the headboard? I think the daybed idea is great, and it makes sense to put it on the free wall. Minimise your work here – don’t start pulling out fitted furniture as you haven’t got the time to make the walls good etc.

Right, next is your new bedroom. I think with a new coat of paint and maybe some new handles (try bombayduck.co.uk) the wardrobes will look a million times better. I really like the bookcase idea in place of the dresser, but do you need those dresser drawers for storage? Instead of cupboards above the bed, you could put up floating shelves and put some nice boxes on top or pretty things for display?

Hope that’s helpful. With the painting etc. is it worth getting a quote to get someone in to blitz it all? Would take some stress off you, and then you can put your energy into making something lovely and special for Bebe’s wall.
