Flashback Friday- School Days

Sep 23, 2011 by

As it’s Friday and I like to Flashback on Fridays, I thought I would try something a little different. I’m generally struggling to find far enough to flash back to. Part of that is down to the fact that I have no photos beyond 6 years ago, for the most part, as anything I left behind in America is still in America. As I’ve always said, on Flashback Friday, it doesn’t matter how FAR you flash back, just that you do. So, I’m taking my own “rule” and flashing back to earlier this year.

In January of this year, Ella began attending our local village preschool 2 mornings a week. I’ve written about it just this week as a matter of fact as we’re now in 3 full days a week at the same lovely village school. My friend, Mummy Matters, sends her Little Bean, who is Ella’s BEST FRIEND to the same school. They love it and we love it that they have each other! Sabina mentioned to me that we need to take a picture every year of them going to school. I remembered that I had, in fact, done that when they started earlier this year and again last week when they began their autumn term. So I had a look to see what difference, if any, there was. Was I surprised!

Look at Ella in the January 2011. Chubby cheeks, cheeky grin, still looking every bit the 2 1/2 year old that she was. Now look at her in the September 2011 photo. Taller, not such chubby cheeks, same cheeky grin but looking decidedly older (and wiser??). There is an incredible difference between these two photos…I think, anyway. But I’m the Mummy. I’m allowed to think that.

Here’s Ella and Little Bean (and Beanie Boy who just turned 1 this week!) as well. They both have grown and changed so much! There’s a confidence there that didn’t exist before! Now imagine what next September’s picture will look like. They’ll both be going to primary school…in uniforms…OH MY GOD! This is a flashback that I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing with you.

Now, feel free to go back in time yourself, share the memories and link it back up, if you like, to share with the blogosphere. Have a great trip down memory lane!
