Flashback Friday- Geneva
Back in the day (aka 2005-2006 Before Children), my then-fiance Mark and I journeyed back and forth between Geneva, Switzerland about 5 times. Mark’s twin sister, Julie, and her family were living there and it was in the day when Easy Jet flights were cheap and you didn’t have to pay to check your luggage! Wow, that was a while ago!
Julie is the reason that Mark and I are together and Mark and Julie are quite close so having them only a few countries away was a luxury that we couldn’t pass up. I went and looked after the children in May of 2006 while Julie and her husband went on a reconnaissance mission to Singapore which would be their next destination.
That week in May I looked after the children and got a tiny taste of what it’s like to be a mother. It must not have been too bad as I am one now. Mark journeyed over to help me out on the weekend and we had great fun taking the kids to a film (Ice Age 2) and bowling. It was a wonderful week which brought us all closer together. Mark and I were shattered as we sat in the airport to go home but it was a great experiment for us!
The photos in this post were taken at a lovely nature park near Lake Geneva (in the background). The picture to the right was one we always tried to take…a jokey shot for the photo albums. We love each other so. I love looking back at these moments which brought Mark and I closer together and convinced us that being parents was definitely for us. I suppose I am a bit nostalgic at the moment as our family is due to expand. Sometimes I think back on the days when it was just us two but our lives are so much richer and happier now that we’re a family of 3.5!
Now, what are some favourite memories of yours? Share them on the Linky below…it’s always good to have a Flashback Friday!

What beautiful photos! I haven’t yet been to stay in Switzerland – I’ve travelled through it on my way to Italy but I must go and try for myself sometime.
Hope you are having a fabulous relax this weekend xxx
Stunning photos Karin…You look so in love! Beautiful scenery x
Oh those were the days! Beautiful scenery! Do you remember how utterly exhausted you were after babysitting a friend’s child for 2 hours, and wondered how on earth they did it full time? Now we know! I am too exhausted to do one today, but I will have a good think and try to join in next time.
Gorgeous and soooo romantic Karin
hope your weekend is going well xx
