Countdown to Christmas-I Don’t Like Santa
Being the ever so festive family that we are, we decided it was time to visit Santa last night. There’s an outlet mall near our village and Santa is in residence there at the moment. I have no idea how he manages to supervise the elves and tends to the reindeer when he’s sitting in a little house at Springfield’s in Spalding, Lincs but there you go. Obviously a multi-tasking, Skyping, emailing Santa for this millenium. You go Santa!
We dragged Nanny & Grandad along and paid £12.50 for the 4 of us + Little Miss. They’ve made a rather nice lit path to find Santa. Loads of little scenes, most of which had nothing to do with Santa. There was a “Spider Adventure” section! What? Spiders? Santa? Hmmmm. Have a look at some of the sparkly fun we viewed…
We made our way through the sparkly paths to a little garden shed which was meant to be Santa’s Grotto. As it was nearly 8:00pm there was not another soul around so there were no queues to contend with. We don’t follow the rules about having a 2 1/2 year old to sleep by 7:30. We are insane.
Santa’s helper greeted us at the door and we could see that Santa was sitting behind a screen. Little Miss took one look at him and wrapped her arms around her Daddy’s neck so tight that I thought he might have breathing problems. She buried her face in his neck and refused to look at Santa. After attempts to cajole her into just peeking at Santa she did manage to look at him but that bottom lip popped out and I feared we’d have a full on weeping session so we didn’t push it.
I thought that if I sat next to Santa that she might consider sitting with me…next to Santa. No go though! Absolutely refused. Wouldn’t even get down on the ground. A present was offered and taken and she did manage to look at Santa and say thank you. Once out in the frosty air she said “I Don’t Like Santa” but was most pleased with her present and the fact that we were done.
Thinking about it though, why would any two year old want to sit near a BIG man dressed in a GIANT red suit with a GARGANTUAN beard and is a complete and total stranger?? I wasn’t too keen to be sitting next to this one, I can assure you. We’ve done a Christmasy thing though. Score one for the Bebe Family.

Lol, we took BG to the one at Baytree on Wednesday she wouldn’t go near Santa either!
