Recently while spending Little Miss’ nap time not-at-all-inappropriate amount of networking time on Twitter, I stumbled across some tweets from Maclaren who were talking about Stroll Back to Shape. As we all know, I’m fairly keen on getting my no-I’m-not-pregnant rather protuberous belly back into shape and I quite enjoy strolling. It would appear that Cafe Bebe + Maclaren = Match Made in Heaven! Through the magic that is Twitter, I was emailing back and forth with Maclaren and organising a wee group of us slightly-out-of-shape-yet-still-gorgeous-and-yummy mummies to trial the Stroll Back to Shape programme and some of Maclaren’s best and brightest pushchairs! Ala-ka-zam!
The Stroll Back to Shape programme finds Maclaren joining forces with Pushy Mothers to provide mums with a spoon-fed approach to getting back into shape. Pushy Mothers is providing YouTube workouts each week to guide mums (of all stages of post-partum mummyhood) into working out with their baby and buggy. If you’re like me, having a VISUAL cue to what to do makes all the difference in the world and the Pushy Mothers Stroll Back to Shape videos are perfect, short and effective.
This is their Week 3 workout called “Hill Pushing” which takes you through the proper pushing position when going up and down hills. Living in Cambridgeshire/Lincolnshire doesn’t afford me many hills but Stamford is a lovely town which has a fair few hills to practise this technique so I think I’ll be able to give it a go.
Many of you who know me know that I am the Pushchair Queen. I have reviewed over 20 pushchairs in the last year and a bit BUT I have yet to review a Maclaren! The Stroll Back to Shape programme has allowed me the opportunity to give the Maclaren GTLX a test run and I can say that I am quite impressed. The GTLX is the cream of the Maclaren crop. Full of extra features, this pushchair is quite substantial in form and function. One of my favourite features of the pushchair is that you can position the seat either forward or parent facing which is brilliant for parents of newborn or younger babies.
I’m giving you a sneak preview today but will give you a full review of the Maclaren GTLX and our maiden voyage later in the week. Suffice it to say, we had a great walk, were able to know just how fast we were walking and Little Miss was riding in style! I’d also like to direct you to the other Stroll Back to Shape Mummies who are joining me in this adventure! They’re lovely and energetic and, like me, they are quite keen to put the Yummy Mummy tiara back on. I give you:
- Rebecca of Beetroot and Gherkins- Bec is mum to nearly-3-year-old Monty and not-so-newborn Blossom. She always has me in stitches and has frequent stories about poo! Bec has a gorgeous new hairdo in preparation for her return to Yummy Mummy-dom! (@becaboop)
- Kate of What Katie’s Kids Did Next- Kate’s 16 month old Little Man is motivating her to lose those last few pounds. Kate has blogged about her maiden voyage and even managed to give herself some blisters in her marathon walk! Go Kate Go! (@kateagreen)
- Maria of Little M’s Busy World- Maria is setting the Twitter world on fire by galvanising several mums to run with her in the Adidas 5k in September. She’s a great motivator…no wonder she’s a PR in her spare time (@verybusymama)
- Bumbling Along- Ms. Bumbling is an impressive working mum to Moo and is working just as hard to get herself back into shape. Roll along with her in her journey… (@BumblingTweets)
- Mumra Blog- Journey along with this Childcare expert and new mum who has a rather funky blog and a lot of great information to share (@mumrablog)
Phew…a rather brilliant group of bloggers, mums and ladies who want to look a bit better! Do follow their progress with the Maclaren Stroll Back to Shape programme and their reviews of their Maclaren buggies. There’s something there for everyone. Tune in to Cafe Bebe later this week to read my review of the Maclaren GTLX and journey with me on my way to dietary salvation with the MuTu Guru. In the meantime, get out there and Stroll Yourself Back to Shape…your baby, your hubby and your bellies will thank me!

Welcome to Cafe Bebe...a tale of the adventures of two parents who found each other across an ocean, learned how to parent thanks to a toddler called Ella and a bebe called Sam while maintaining their sanity...just.
