Blogladesh with Save the Children
Last week some bloggers whom I immensely respect let us all in on their secret. They’re going to Bangladesh as members of a Save the Children campaign to bring awareness to the plight of mothers and children in Third World countries. “Mummy Bloggers head to Bangladesh” is worth your time and attention. Sian, Josie and Eva are going on a life-changing adventure which they will share with us through their tweets, posts, podcast and videos in conjunction with Save the Children.
Did you know that every year 9 million children under the age of 5 die? And why are they dying? Because they are poor. Because they can’t afford or access proper medical care. Because they don’t have clean water. Because they contract diarrhoea. Because they live on less than $2.00 per day. Because they are forgotten.
Josie, Sian and Eva are hoping to change that. The parent blogging community is a powerful one which is why this is such a brilliant partnership with “mummy” bloggers and Save the Children. Already a ton of support has been drummed up through tweets, blog posts, Facebook pages and petitions. We’re wearing badges on our blogs, like the one at the top of this post. We’re wearing “twibbons” on our Twitter avatars. We’re begging Twitter celebrities like Stephen Fry and many others to throw a tweet our way. And you know what??? It’s working! Check out the #blogladesh Daily to see what is happening. It’s inspiring!
Please check out the links highlighted in this post and be sure to stay tuned to Mummy Tips, Sleep is for the Weak and Nixd Minx for the amazing story that will kick off at the beginning of September. I’m sure a wayward prayer or good wish for these brave mummies wouldn’t go amiss. You can follow the #blogladesh-kateers on their Twitter streams as well: @mummytips, @porridgebrain and @nixdminx .
Remember, it’s easy to lurk when it comes to human suffering. You can watch from a distance and think that it doesn’t affect you. What’s hard is doing something about it. It’s time to step up. What can you do?
Have a listen to Sian and find out more about the Blogladesh campaign. Good luck and God speed ladies!

Thanks Karin. xx
