Little Miss with her Cousins

Yesterday we went to Twin Lakes, near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire with our family who are visiting from Australia.  It’s an exceptionally family friendly venue and on a mid-week day, during term time there was nary a queue to stand in.  As Little Miss is only around 85 cm, there are not a ton of ride options for her but there were plenty of “slidey ridies” which was enough to wear her out thoroughly.

We watched an amazing Falconry display by some gorgeous birds of prey as well.  There was a Harris Hawk, a Vulture (called Bob), and a Falcon called Fizz.  It’s very impressive if you’ve never seen it.  They emphasize how well they care for the birds and that the birds are free to leave at any time but see Twin Lakes as their home.  They were glorious birds.  My niece was rather disgusted with the Falcon who was disecting a chick as its reward but Little Miss was entranced!

Hubby decided to join in the fun with his daughter, nieces, nephews and twin sister.  He paid the price, however and I give you a word of advice regarding sliding, plastic and skin.  If you are an ADULT and choose to slide down a giant PLASTIC slide, please tuck in your shirt.  Otherwise, your shirt will fly up, your back will stick to the plastic and you will end up with one hell of a FRICTION burn!  See my husband’s back as evidence:
