Sinjin
This is my wonderful Black Lab, Sinjin. He’s my very special creature. He was born on 5 September, 1996 in Wisconsin, USA. I was there the night he was born but I didn’t know who he was amongst the 8 other puppies. I went to visit the puppies every week. He was the “runt” of the litter; always getting stepped on and squished by his brothers and sisters. I always rescued him and held him while looking at all of the puppies. I knew I couldn’t NOT take him.
At seven weeks old I took him home in a small cardboard box. During the car ride he started to cry…LOUDLY! I rescued him from the box and sat him on my lap while driving. He crawled up my body to nuzzle my neck and find comfort. He was mine.
He has followed me from my hometown, to Decatur, Illinois, to California and back. He’s stayed with my grandparents and my mum for short (and not-so-short) periods of time in between moves. He lived with my mom for a year before she graciously packed him up and sent him over here to live with us in 2006. I was never so happy as to rescue him from his kennel at Gatwick Airport.
He’s suffered a house with two cats (now one cat) AND a baby. He’s been sat on, tripped over, squished and shoved around. He’s never been cross once. He loves us and we love him. We nearly lost him a few weeks ago. I cried a thousand tears. But he wasn’t ready to go yet. He’s not the dog he used to be but he’s happy and loved and as healthy as a nearly-fourteen-year-old dog can be. We love you Sinjin…thanks for making our lives happier!
