The Best of Friends
This week in The Gallery I’m highlighting Little Miss and all of the special friends in her life. First and foremost, her Daddy. Little Miss is our first (and so far, only) child. My hubby always wanted to have a “Daddy’s Girl” and she most definitely is. She adores him and will follow him around until the cows come home. He adores her and will protect her until the end of time. They are the Best of Friends.
This is our black lab, Sinjin, now 13 years old. Being flown over from America took years off him…having Little Miss in his life took a few more. He does love her though. She steps on him, sits on him, runs into him, feeds him “bikkies”, “fetches him” and loves him back. He’s not much longer for this world but oh, how he’s been loved…
Little Miss is the 6th grandchild for my inlaws. They haven’t had a baby in their lives for a fair few years (the next youngest grandchild is 9 years old!) but they spend lots of time with her and look after her so carefully. Grandad is a jokester and great fun…Little Miss thinks he’s the best!
And of course, there are grandparents across the pond…
My Dad, Grandpa to Little Miss, didn’t get to meet his grandaughter until she was nearly 6 months old as an ocean was between us. We never have enough time together and I wish, every day that Grandpa and Nanna Janna were just around the corner. But they aren’t so we treasure moments like these where Little Miss is getting to be friends with her Grandpa and Nanna.
My Mom adores her Little Miss…she gave her the nickname after all! They share a love of olives and laughing. Grandma was here for Little Miss’ second and third weeks on this planet and it was very special to see the bond that they developed. Skype makes life easier and Little Miss knows that Grandma lives in “‘Sconsin” (Wisconsin for the rest of you). She misses Grandma but loves to show off when we “see” her.
And now for Little Miss’ best mate. They were born 3 days apart but we didn’t meet until the girls were about 3 months old. Thanks to a Sure Start Children’s Centre Baby Music class, I met Little Miss’ best mate’s mummy and we became fast friends. We found several other mummies and babies who all were born within two weeks of each other. We were each other’s life lines for the first year. I’m so grateful for the times we had together. Some mummies went back to work and others drifted away but we’ve remained the best of friends with S and L. I hope that the girls will always be friends…I’m so glad we still have each other.
Here’s my girl and me. I know there will be times when she’s going to HATE me and I’ll be exasperated with her but I desperately hope that we will always be the best of friends. We’re off to a pretty good start!
Once again, I have The Gallery to thank for this theme. Tara Cain’s Gallery’s theme this week is: FRIENDSHIP. Thank you lovely Tara…

I like that you consider you and her to be more than mom and daughter, I posted on the same lines, being a sahm means I spend most of my times with the boys, and this weeks theme made me realise that we have actually become friends – I like their company, if I didn’t I’d go back to work and have something called money – what’s that again?
This is lovely, and what a great thing for her to see in years to come. She is a gorgeous girl as well xx
Thanks very much Kerry…I hope we do always stay the best of friends. Thank you for your kind words.
My daughter is a great companion to me. We don’t remember what money is either! Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks so much Maggie. We are very lucky to have the people we do have in our lives.

I’m a bit sad actually, Mirka…we’ve drifted apart but we have kept our best mates and I do treasure them so it’s not all bad! Thanks for your comment
