Exit- Daddy’s Girl, Enter- A Wife
This picture was taken on my wedding day, Saturday 18 March, 2006. This is our house. As I wasn’t in my homeland to get married, I stayed at what was my fiancés house, where we’d been living together for 9 months. He stayed at the hotel where we had our reception. The house was full of friends and family on the day but in the end, it was just Dad and me to leave and lock the door.
My dad struggled to get the door to lock…was this nerves or not wanting this day to come?! It also happened to be about 5 degrees C that day. It was FREEZING and I wasn’t exactly dressed for the weather. Did I notice? Did I heck!
I love the way the wind takes my veil and gives it a good swirl! I’m also trying to show off my pretty shoes obviously!
I’m all ready now! No more Wee Me…Daddy’s Girl. On my way to becoming a Mrs…a Wife!
This post was written in support of the lovely Tara Cain’s Gallery at Sticky Fingers. Her theme for this week is “Outside my Front Door”. I struggled a bit with this one as there’s not a lot of interesting things going on outside my front door. We live in a small village but we’re surrounded by houses and tarmac and footpaths. This is still our house; our front door.
Then I remembered these photos taken on my wedding day by my great and good friend Lynsey, photographer extraordinaire whom we imported from the US for the occasion. I think she did an amazing job capturing a precious moment! Thanks Lyns…you’re famous now! You can thank me for it later…

Such Fab pictures! and you look beautiful! I bet it was a great day.

Its funny how when you look back over pictures then can define a moment and time. This looks like a happy one
you look fabulous! And an excellent twist on the theme, very inventive!
Oh I love them! You can just feel the wind swirling around – they’re alive!
Oh this brought back so many memories of my dad and me on my wedding day
Aw what a precious memory – I will never forget those last few moments with my Dad on the way to the church.
That’s just fabulous Karin, I love how you’ve taken the theme and made it your own. Great photos you tiara obsessive you!
Those pictures really brought tears to my eyes, I can just imagine the emotions of the day and the way the wind has blown your veil and dress, fantastic! :0)
Thanks Tara! I was struggling…outside my front door isn’t very pretty but on that day it was!
How lovely Karin. You look gorgeous. Such happy memories. It makes me want to get the pix of our wedding out again…
I love that you haven’t removed the tiara to this day! Lovely pictures x
How wild and dramatic! I find all the best wedding photos are candid and usually captured by guests
Love love LOVE your pictures – just fabulous! And you’ve reminded me too about that poignant moment alone with one’s father after all the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the big day. xx
Aaawwwwww, beautiful. I love your interpretation, the memory, the weather, dad shaking. Brilliant
And to think, I was there!!! You looked gorgeous on your wedding day and had one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever been to. Your wedding was the highlight of our trip to England. It was a bit on the chilly side that day, but it didn’t ruin a thing! Lovely day, lovely bride!
Seeing your photos made me hear ‘Butterfly Kisses’ lol.
So sweet! Love these
Gorgeous. And how perfect that you still live there – that’s still your own front door.
