I was “tagged” by the lovely Becs at Beetroot and Gherkins (I must ask her why she calls her blog that!) to take part in the MY FAVOURITE PHOTO MEME. Now, usually, I am a bit of a party-pooper with regards to Meme’s and Awards. I always feel like I never have anyone to pass it on to as it’s already gone to people I read regularly. However, I was most intrigued by this Meme so I have decided to jump feet first into it! The challenge: to pick one favourite photo and tell why it is your favourite photo and then “tag” 5 additional bloggers to pass it on.
The photo above is of me and my husband, although at the time, we were about 1-2 weeks away from being engaged, unbeknownst to me. I have yet to tell “our story” which I promise I will do soon but suffice it to say, our relationship was a bit of a whirlwind. We phoned each other for about two months before meeting in person for the first time at Luton Airport, 4 February, 2005. 6 short weeks later, Mark proposed to me under the London Eye on an unseasonably warm evening (18 March). By the end of May 2005, I had finished my studies in France and Mark came to get me to begin our lives together. And the rest is history…as they say. I will do our story more justice by doing a proper post on this soon.
I took this “self portrait” over the Easter Weekend in 2005. What I love about this picture is the HAPPINESS that is on both of our faces and even in our eyes. Thanks to my blue shirt, our eyes look even more blue. We were thoroughly in love with each other despite having limited time together initially. This photo was my screensaver for AGES. I struggled a little bit to choose this photo as there are so many others of Mark and I together and of course, a bazillion with Little Miss but, I glanced up at a shelf in our lounge and instantly gravitated to this photo which still remains in a frame. Everything stems from the time this photo was taken and it’s a memory that I cherish. I think my hubby would agree that we love each other more now than on that day in 2005 and wouldn’t change a thing about where we are today but it is nice to remember those moments when it was just the two of us and nothing else mattered. Young love!
I’m tagging the following American bloggers for this challenge…good luck!
