Number 100
Cafe Bebe has hit post number 100!! Wowie Zowie, as my Little Miss would say. And there’s a little reward in store for one lucky person at the end of this post. But let me hook you in for a wee bit before that. You don’t mind do you?
I began blogging in June of 2009 in an effort to regain a bit of me. I needed the creative challenge and an outlet for letting out my trials, tribulations and triumphs as a mother. I think I’ve been fairly successful with that and look back to June and say, “What a long way you’ve come!” I now know how to use small bits of code to make badges and widgets appear on my blog sidebars, I know how to link sites and upload images to my library. I know a bit more about what works and what doesn’t work; what people seem to like to read and what they don’t. I have been approached by PR’s and have knocked on a few doors myself with surprising success. I’ve recorded memories and allowed friends and family to share in our accomplishments. I’ve adventured away from home and explored London more in the last 6 months than in four years of living here. I’ve changed the looks of my blog time after time and think I’ve settled on just the right look (for now). In short, I’ve come a long way, baby.
I wanted to be prolific and groundbreaking in my 100th post but I don’t have a lot of groundbreaking in me today. What I would like to do, in my 100th post, is share my goals for 2010 and the next 100 posts. If you like, my New Year’s Resolutions. I always make some and almost always break them but once they’re in print, it’s a little harder to ignore them. Ready? Here we go:
Goals for 2010- Mother, Wife, Me…
- MOTHER- I will strive to balance my life to give my daughter the attention she deserves and the exercise she needs. I will allow her to get dirty and not freak out about it. I will let her walk when I think it’s safe (that’s up to ME not her!). I will do messy play at home more and let her help out in the kitchen and not be afraid. I will get her involved in Tumble Tots if I have to scrape pennies to get her there. I will let the inlaws continue to care for her on regular afternoons so I can have some me time. I will do my best to cook fresh food for my Little Miss and not rely on things like potato waffles (they’re so easy and yummy!) I will do what’s best for my Little Miss every day.
- WIFE- I will enlist the support of my inlaws to babysit AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH to allow Hubby and I to have a DATE. If the first one goes off without a hitch, maybe I’ll step it up to TWICE A MONTH. Maybe. I will develop an actual routine of cleaning. Something every day?? I need to keep the house cleaner and healthier and take less time sitting on my ass at the computer. I will shut the computer down when hubby comes home from work and use the evenings to share with him, not the computer screen. (This may not be EVERY night, but most nights) I will strive to be a better cook by planning out our weekly meals and cooking as much as possible. I will make a concerted effort to throw away less from our refrigerator and NOT store left-overs if I know we won’t eat them later (and we rarely do). I will remember to show my husband how much I love him and not wait for him to show me…it goes both ways, doesn’t it? I will try to communicate my feelings better and not bottle things up inside.
- ME- I will find some decent makeup that actually flatters my skin and diguises the tired eyes and sallow complexion. I will find some clothes that FIT and FLATTER my lack of shape. I will make an effort to do something about my LACK OF SHAPE like getting out and walking somewhere, anywhere ONCE A DAY. I will start using the Wii EA Sports Active Personal Trainer programme to make myself stronger and more fit. I will find time every day to write. I will continue to goal set and work towards the goal of being published (more to come in another post this week). I will assess each week what things I need to work on for my blog and writing. I will take vitamins and try to keep healthy for any future bundles that might come our way. I will thoroughly enjoy my last year this side of 40 and will remember to take time for me as well as for everyone/thing else.
There you have it…my goals for 2010. What are yours? Do you make RESOLUTIONS? How do you keep them?? Oh, that’s right…I mentioned something about a REWARD! Well, as I have been lucky enough to have received lots of nice items from PR’s and Companies, I thought I would share the wealth with a Cafe Bebe Surprise! The winner will receive:
- 1 Adult Slanket (Alaskan blue) + 1 Kids Slanket(Hunter Green) (approx. $30 each)
- 1 Copy of “Babymoon” by Melanie La’Brooy (£6.99 paperback)
- 1 Copy of “Jim…A Cautionary Tale” by Hillaire Beloc & Mini Grey(£12.99 hardcover)
- 1 Copy of “Traction Man meets Turbo Dog” by Mini Grey (£5.99 paperback)
- Total Value: well, taking currency into account…ENOUGH!! (approx. £70)
Everything will be packaged up and sent to the winner’s door…unfortunately NOT in time for Christmas. I’m running my Cafe Bebe Surprise from Monday 14 December to Friday 18 December. All you have to do to enter is COMMENT BELOW and maybe include ONE resolution for 2010…or why you DON’T make resolutions if you don’t. If you like, you can also give me a suggestion for Cafe Bebe for 2010. I’ll do my best to implement! I will draw a winner on Friday night (9pm) and announce the winner Saturday 19 December by 9am.
Good luck everyone! And thank you for tuning in to Cafe Bebe…here’s to an amazing 2010! And another 100 posts of brilliance ! (HA!) Cheers!

Wow – you’ve got your list all sorted! I’m impressed.
Guess my NYR would be to become more planned and organised so that I can spend more time for me at home. I’ve got better at children time, and we’ve made some great stuff the last month or so. Now it’s getting work planned better, and the hubby and me time sorted.
Will have a harder think and be SMARTER about this before 1st Jan I promise!
Good luck with yours. Looking forward to hearing how you get on and hopefully being motivated to stick to my resolution. If others can do it, why can’t I?!
SMART goals…yes, that is the key isn’t it. Measurable and Accountable and all that! Thanks for commenting!
I have loads of things I want to achieve next year (I will be blogging about them lol).
My main ones would have to be to get my house in a better shape both in space and financial improvement. Good luck with your goals.
Ooh, let’s not talk about financial! I try not to think about that…could be part of my problem!
Thanks for commenting and wishing me luck
As you know I love your blog and site and I also love your resolutions, but you need to remember that you dont need to be perfect, just be your best!!!
I have a couple of resolutions that I am willing to share, firstly is I would like to learn to knit and crochet.
Secondly I would like to have a few nights out next year with MadDad!!
Thanks Mrs…I’ll never be perfect, that’s for sure! Sometimes I try too hard but I’ll bear that in mind. I support your resolution to go out with MadDad…I’m sure he’ll be happy about that as well!
Oooh pick me! Pick me!
I could make lots of resolutions each year (and I used to) but I find they seem to be the same things year after year because I never manage to achieve them. Maybe my resolution should just be to get through the year. That’s always a good start.
I think that is an excellent resolution! Good luck with that!
I have a few!
Main one, get nursery decorated and prettied in time for Pickles arrival in March 2010- this may seem silly but means so much to me as we moved into our house when Monty was just 12 days old and he was a good 5 months by the time his room was done, he didn’t give a hoot but it mattered to me!
2nd one- get this college course DONE by March 2010 ( I know, cutting it fine it’s my style) I have till end of summer term but I want it finished before pickle arrives and I have 2 little adorables to take care of!
3- NESTING!
4, make my blog look and feel like something I can be proud of, I’m learning all the time!
Phewie I have written alot, maybe I should make this into my own blog post?
Happy 100 Karin, your an inspirational blogger and have taught me alot. x
Aw…an inspirational blogger…how sweet are you?? Happy to help! Yes, I would definitely make your reply into a post…you’ve got some great resolutions in there. I wish you luck with all of them!
Happy happy!
Gosh. I haven’t given it much thought yet. So here’s a quick think:
I am going to complete the teenage novel I’m writing
I’m going to spend some time cooking and baking with my daughter
I’m not going to dwell to much on things I cannot change
I am going to be positive
I’m going to have a great year!
Hope you do to. You’ll have to link back to this post in a year’s time!
I’m going to keep better contact with friends old and new. The social networking sites have made this a lot easier.
You are sorted and motivated ya???? My resolution is to continue to balance my exercise, house keeping, taxiing the kids, etc…..and to cut back on my ‘potty mouth’. Notice, I did not say ‘stop’ swearing. I do need a vice since I don’t smoke, drink in excess or do drugs….I figure a few naughty words here and there are my release!! Good luck to all.
Martie
Wow – your list looks like mine! apart from the Tumble Tots bit. My children are a bit older you see.
Mother: I resolve to get the children to pick up after themselves. This is a useful life skill and one for which their future wives will be very grateful.
Wife: I resolve to find a babysitter I trust enough to look after my children without anxiety or wrry. This may be a difficult task but my husband needs some attention and it would be nice to go out when it is dark.
Me: I resolve to go for a walk every day. A pacy walk to get the heart going.
Have a fabby 2010 everyone!
I like it…great resolutions. The Babysitter bit (and letting go) is going to be my challenge! Thanks for stopping by to comment!
My resolution is to DO SOME EXERCISE…that would be balance! No wonder we’re such good friends…we think so much alike. Love and miss you
That’s a great resolution…thanks for stopping by!
I’ll try to do a mid-year update…remind me, eh?
Thanks Rosie…your resolutions are great…good luck Mrs
Great resolutions!
Presley loves Tumbletots, it’s given him body confidence, concentration skills and the ability to follow instructions.
Andy and I have a date out once a month. We also have a ‘date’ every Saturday night. We mostly stay in, but spend quality time together, nice meal, glass of wine…!
My new year resolution is to make my blog look cool. I LOVE your new look Karin, so jealous! x
I wouldn’t worry too much about the looks of your blog Mrs…you’re pretty cool anyway! And yes, I need to take more time to spend with my hubby…or there never will be any other bundles!
Thanks for commenting!
My resolution is going to be to make one new meal each week because I am severely lacking in dinner inspiration. Great competition, count me in!
You’re in Mrs! And that’s a great resolution…one I should adopt!
Let’s see, my number one resolution is to make an effort to exercise everyday – even if only for 10 minutes!
Congrats on 100 posts. . . I’m looking forward to reading your next 100. . .
Thanks Mrs! I like that resolution…I really need to do it as well.
I’ll be emailing you soon by the way!
Yah on reaching 100 .
My resolution is the same as always , get my weight under control.
Happy Christmas
Thanks for stopping by…I can commisserate with the weight issue…sigh!
