Just Ask!

I now subscribe to a new philosophy: You never know what you might get if you JUST ASK!  A lovely Twitter-mate encouraged me to email a book publisher about a new “chick lit” book hitting the shelves soon.  It’s called “Babymoon” by author Melanie La’Brooy and is about impending, first-time motherhood.  I tracked down who the publisher was, emailed them and suggested that I could review a copy of their book and offer another one on my Cafe Bebe site.  I got a virtually instant email back saying, “Yes, that sounds fine.  Where can we send them?”!  Well, how about that!

I have since done the same with another publishing company for another brilliant book (keeping this one close to the vest) and last night emailed a very clever guy called Gary who invented a genius product called The Slanket.  Again on Twitter, a friend mentioned The Slanket and sent me a link so I could check it out.  Josie at Sleep is for the Weak is a huge fan.  You’ve got to check this thing out…so clever.  My American friends and family will access it easier as it’s an American based company but still, you’ve got to see it.  Gary is a forward-thinking businessman and after my email proposal was more than happy to accomodate my request so very soon, I will be having a competition on my site which all Mums and Dads will ADORE!

Hence, my new mantra: “Just ask!”  You just never know what you might get.  Good things happen to those who wait as well, and I’ve been waiting for quite some time so I think it’s deserved.  What are you going to “just ask” for now?  Let me know!  And let me know if you get it as well.

I am going to ask for a hug when my husband gets home! But really I have to learn to ask for help, and not feel so guilty about doing so. I am a work in progress on this front!

I may be getting better at asking complete strangers for things but I’m not brilliant about asking for help! I feel like I should be able to handle everything and handle it well. Usually the “well” part is the problem. I hope you get your hug…you more than deserve it! ;)

Ooh, thanks so much! I tried it again today and it paid off! ;) It’s definitely my new mantra. Hoping maybe it might pay off on our upcoming trip to the US when I think about asking for an upgrade! ;)
